Puppy worms

Worms are very small parasites that are known to create health problems for puppies. Worms can be transferred to puppies from their mothers at birth. These parasites live in the intestines of the puppy. Earlier it was a common belief that puppies can get worms only from their mothers, but with the developments in the medical world, veterinarians have found out that puppies can get them through various other means as well. Worms can be transported as eggs thorough infection carriers like mice into the body of the puppy. Worms can also come in through feces. Puppies can even ingest worms from environment. Puppies should be treated of these parasites as soon as possible to avoid future risks. Worms are known to damage important organs in the body like heart causing critical health issues, having said that worms are not very difficult to deal with. I love my puppy a lot and even when I go for a vacation I make sure the hotel that I check in is pet friendly. I did a search for dog friendly hotel brighton when heading to the cost and found this great hotel that loved animals. You can always visit hotel websites to check there policy about pets before booking.

So some of the symptoms that you can look for, to determine if your puppy has worms are:

Abdomen Bloating

Serious Weight Loss

Diarrhea

Feces covered with Mucus

Anemia

Loss of strength

Low energy

If you see any of the above mentioned symptoms with your puppy then get it checked with a veterinarian right away. Most likely the vet is going to ask you for some fecal samples to investigate the problem. In case if it does not prove the presence of the parasite then a vet could also ask you for some blood samples which is a more stronger indicative. Once the vet is able to decide the kind of worms present in your puppy, then you will receive the medication needed to de-worm the puppy. These medications are very important and will clean your puppy from any worms. Just as the saying says prevention is better than cure, always try and take preventive methods to protect your puppy from getting infected again. As a good practice veterinarians advice to give your puppy by default de-worming medication 6 weeks after they are born.
